The good, the location is great. The bed was comfortable. Our room had a back door leading right onto the boardwalk. The price was great for an ocean front room. The not so good, the rooms are in need of some updates. The water pressure wasn't great. The grounds around the property needed cleaned up. The pool was good, but also needed a good cleaning. The worst thing was the parking. The parking is free, but it is very limited, tight, and not easily accessible. If you don't get a spot in the afternoon, you will find it difficult to park in the evening, especially if you have a medium to large vehicle. We stayed for about a week after the first evening of trying to park. We limited our outings to the mornings and early afternoon, just so we didn't have issues parking in the evenings Overall, I did like this place and would stay here again.

No, it isn't a 5-star hotel, nor do they pretend to be. It's old. It needs work. The parking situation isn't great if you drive a large truck. However, it is right on the beach in a prime spot. More importantly, the concierge (maybe owner? manager? Idk...) was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Any issues we had were resolved immediately. He was incredibly friendly, polite, and welcoming. We will definitely be staying here again. After all, who goes to the beach to hang out in their hotel room anyway?

Stayed here in late August. This hotel does not pretend to be a fancy one, and I believe it is rated 2-star. However, it is located right on the Boardwalk and has sufficient parking. Staff is sufficiently attentive. Bathrooms are ok and clean. Rooms are clearly outdated. Furniture is worn out, super-small microwave is overly old and seriously worn out with a wind-up timer knob that does not allow to set precise cooking time. A weird thing is that clothes hangers are removed from the room, so you have to go to the counter to ask for them. Very small toiletry packages, cheapest tissue and toilet paper. No smoke alarm on the wall which is actually a violation of fire safety (owners, please note you can get fined for that!). Safe deposit box had a permanently stuck key in the lock, and when I reported that at the front desk, I was told, "We know, sorry." But, these are relatively small things that you will stop noticing once you settle down, if it was not for a relatively high room rate of about $250/nt. But compared to say Ramada next door that would have only marginally better rooms but for at least 30% higher price, that's decent for August. Also remember all rooms are facing the beach and have good views, even from the ground floor. Overall, it's a decent place to stay for a couple of nights. The fact that you can buy food very close buy and have a quick bite in your room is convenient. All attractions are right there on the Boardwalk. There are good restaurants, snack and gift shops. I am posting some pictures of the room - but that's not to deter visitors but rather to point to owners that those are not so difficult problems to fix to make the place more attractive and drive more business. I am just a DIYer, not a pro, but I could plaster walls and put a coat of wood stain and polyurethane, and paint here and there in just a couple of hours and it would cost under a couple hundred bucks per room. I know property taxes and operational expenses are probably killing you, but there are lots of small improvements you can do to ramp up your revenue. For example, you could install vending machines in your check-in lobby, and you have plenty of space for that. Having your cleaning crew moving furniture a bit to get trash behind it, installing newer microwaves that cost less than $50, or slightly bigger TVs, etc. I still recommend this place for budget travelers and will stay there again myself and will look forward to seeing this small hotel in a better shape. This is why I am giving a 4 star rating and not lower.

We arrived at VA Beach on Jan. 3 for a few days of rest and exploration... and 3 different area hotels that Google said were "pet friendly" turned out not to be. We were parked near 23rd St., and I saw an elderly man sweeping up stray trash while wearing a jacket that said something like "Beach Ambassador" on the back, so I asked him, and he directed me to the Ocean 27 Hotel, which advertised its pet-friendliness on its sign. The lady at the front desk told me the rate - which was off-season-low - I gave her my ID and credit card, and she gave them back with the key cards. The room was on the ground floor, and the key card had to be held against the doorknob casing for a moment before the sensor released the lock. It was a simple room, with 2 full-size beds - the front desk did not give me another option and did not tell me that no others were available. A small refrigerator, a tiny microwave, a coffee maker, and even a small, eldery safe were included. It was basic, but all we intended to use it for was sleep. On the plus side, there was a back door that led to a lawn, followed by the boardwalk, and then the beach 50 yards away. On the minus side, that door had a traditional lock, and we were given no traditional key for it... and it was easy to get locked out of it. The only other issue was that the bathroom vent fan did not work, so the bathroom quickly filled with steam even during just a warm shower. Even so, we were able to stay there with our dog, which was vital, and I have no serious complaints.

This hotel was great for our short getaway. The room was clean, comfortable and great views from the balcony. Looked just like the pictures from online. The lobby staff were great when we needed assistance. The only negative thing I can think of was the showers were old and you could tell, but they were clean. I would suggest to bring shower shoes. Would definitely come again as it is one of the least expensive hotels on the boardwalk.

The rooms are very nice for the price and the oceanfront location. Everything in our room worked fine, other than the television box that constantly shut off, although this was easily fixed by placing it on the floor. The only service problem was that our keycards constantly stopped working randomly, forcing us to get new cards everyday essentially. Overall, it is a great place to stay, would recommend.

Decent location, staff is fantastic and very accommodating. Rooms are well loved but you're not here to be cooped up in a room. Only negative thing I can say is literally every dog being walked in the boardwalk poops in the yard, so sitting on the patio is kinda undesirable but so far everyone has picked up the poo

We took our 70 lb.13 yr. old pit bull with us for the first time. We had aground floor room with a patio door on the ocean side that was very convenient for taking the dog out. While it is not a 4 star hotel, we found it to be very clean and everything was in working order. There are good restaurants next to the hotel on either side as well as across Atlantic Ave. We went late September to early October when the beach was not crowded and we could take the dog on the beach. It's not fancy, but I thought it was better than some other hotels I where I have stayed for about the same price that were not at the beach.
